"black panther" questions
I realize all this is complicated by metaphor, but where is Erik's mother? There are so many amazing women in this film, but there's just this hole there. T'Challa calls out his father for not "bringing the child [Erik] back [to Wakanda]," but Erik's mother is only mentioned in passing when Zuri is telling T'Challa the story of his uncle. She isn't in Erik's vision (though don't color me shocked there), and there's no consideration on anyone's part that T'Chaka spiriting his nephew halfway across the world in the dead of night might have complications. I think it's a blindspot to just ignore this detail, even if it's supposed to wash out to "Erik's mother is America," a justification of Erik's actions which are, even through the lens of the film, only wrong because of the Machiavellian, chaotic evil way in which he does them.
Probably I'm overthinking this, but that's my way. Shuri for president.
ETA: Oh, one more thing. I'm super confused about what happened initially with Klaue. So, he commits a heinous crime in Wakanda in which people die, and T'Chaka's administration is, according to W'Kabi, constantly failing to apprehend him to bring him to justice... But at some point they not only had him, but branded him as a thief instead of prosecuting him as a murderer? I'm confused.
