First of all, with the exception of the two episodes in the middle, I thought this season was fantastic. I am already impatient about season two.

Spoilers for S1, but mostly about the finale:

First of all: Easter sexually harassing Shadow is one of my favorite parts of the book, and they did not disappoint. If anything, it was better onscreen, because Ricky Whittle is a precious human and that face.

(On that note: Shadow's "I an regretting every single one of my life's decisions" face at Nancy's SLAYED me.)

I know a lot of people were (are?) not on board with Kristen Chenoweth playing Easter, and truthfully that is not how I envisioned her either, but I knew the minute I heard about the casting that she would be marvelous, and she was. She exceeded my expectations, which were high. She was a delight every second she was onscreen, and that scene at the end took my breath away.

I am very interested in seeing what happens now that Laura knows about Wednesday ruining Shadow's life. I am also coming to the conclusion that almost no one knows who Shadow is and why he's important, which is not something I noticed in the book, but is also not something I thought about at all until watching the show, so I would probably need a reread to see how that checks out.

Yetide Badaki is ridiculously beautiful, and I really liked parts of her story, especially the connection to the Iranian girl, but I am not convinced that her segment belonged in this episode. It was separate tonally, and I really wanted to spend that time with Shadow.

Nancy's wardrobe continues to delight.

This episode went a long way in convincing me that Ian McShane was the right choice for Wednesday. He's the only one I'm not 100% on board with.

Laura and Mad Sweeney are my current favorite odd couple, and I never want them to part.

Laura is decomposing a lot faster than I anticipated, and I'm wary of where that's going to take us.

I love the ice cream truck with its caved in side and ridiculous music and Mad Sweeney wearing fourteen coats.

Easter pinning Laura's chest shut with barrettes, bangles, and hair pins just killed me.

Shadow's unadulterated joy on seeing Laura gives me hope that the show will steer their relationship back on track; the way it's been depicted so far is one of my only gripes about the first season.

Ricky Whittle can wear the fuck out of a suit. I love that he loves Easter (the holiday), and I love how he reacts to Easter (the goddess), not just blushing and giving her his arm, but the way he just looks at her and reminds her that she's the goddess of spring, and the look on his face is just so earnest that her entire expression changes and you can see what it means to her to hear that, and how it energizes her, how it changes everything. I really, really liked seeing this side of Shadow, and I hope that note that he's open to belief, we'll see more than him brooding.

I need season two yesterday.
